1. Acceptance
By accessing or using Mossy (the “Service”) — including the free greenwashing Message Scan, the CARE website audit, the FAQ, the guidelines and any exported reports — you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. The CARE framework — proprietary methodology
The CARE model (Content · Aim · Reporting · Engagement) used throughout this Service is the proprietary methodology of Dr. S. Rêgo, developed in the PhD thesis Comunicação para a Sustentabilidade (Universidade do Minho, 2024), and is operationalised exclusively by Mossy.
All rights in the CARE framework — including its name, structure, pillars, scoring rubric, indicators, prompts, weightings, verdict scale and audit templates — are reserved. You may not:
- reproduce, adapt, repackage, sublicense or commercialise the CARE methodology or any derivative scoring system;
- use the name “CARE”, “Website Audit”, or the Content · Aim · Reporting · Engagement structure to brand a competing audit, certification, training or consulting product;
- scrape, reverse-engineer or otherwise extract the framework’s rubric, prompts or weightings from the Service;
- train, fine-tune or evaluate machine-learning models on Mossy outputs, reports, or the CARE rubric without prior written permission.

3. Licence to use the Service
Subject to these Terms, Mossy grants you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service and the reports it generates for your own internal communication, compliance review, research, journalism or procurement purposes. Pro and Annual subscriptions extend this licence to unlimited audits and exportable PDF reports for the subscribing organisation.
4. Not legal advice or assurance
Mossy is a communication tool, not a legal opinion and not a third-party assurance engagement. Outputs are produced by automated analysis against ISO 14021 (International), FTC Green Guides (US), UK Green Claims Code — CMA (UK), CSRD / ESRS (EU), EU Directive 2024/825 — ECGT (EU), CSDDD (EU), EU Green Claims Directive (proposed) (EU), Australian Consumer Law — ACCC (AU), and Dutch ACM Sustainability Claims Guidelines (NL). They do not constitute legal, regulatory, financial or auditing advice and must not be relied upon as such.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to submit unlawful content, content infringing third-party rights, malware, or content intended to harass identifiable individuals. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit any text, image, URL or document to the Service.
6. Intellectual property
Mossy, the Mossy logo, the CARE framework and all related software, rubrics, prompts, reports, page designs and copy are owned by Dr. S. Rêgo and/or Mossy. Trademarks, trade names and visual identity may not be used without prior written permission.
7. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Mossy is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service or reliance on its outputs.
8. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
